The year of Fall '66 brought an unhappy
ending for the shin busters eleven, expected to
repeat last years championship, but unfortunate
injuries held the Bucs to a fourth place berth in
the A.A.A. standing as the Bucs were unable to
overcome a rough Washington team.

The season started off against Galileo's little-
men from North Beach. Bal minus all-city
goalkeeper, Manny Berrios, who was lost for the
season with a broken wrist; and Jimmy Espinoza,
all-city candidate, was also injured in a practice
game. The pussycats ran up a 4-0 score at the
end of three quarters, but the Buc's came back
fighting only to fall short when time ran out 4-3.

The footmen ran up a three game winning
streak, only to drop two straight to Mission &
Lincoln.

The following week the Booters met S.I. to
cinch a piayoff berth for our footmen eleven.

In the piayoff game they came up against
Washington's canaries at Crocker Amazon. The
game went scoreless for three hard fought quar-
ters, and it seemed that until the last 30 seconds
of the game when the birds broke through our
defense to score a fluke goal to knock our
boo+ers out of the running for championship.

The team, as a whole, played hard and
worked with a fine new coach, Mr. Nevius, who
really did a fine job considering all injuries.

Men who won first team all-city honors were
Rego Ayala, George Attard a sophomore, and
Otey Cannon, now a two time first team all-city
selection. The second team was headed by Bill
Christensen a junior, and Isreal Yakub; a three
time all-city choice. The team Captain Rich Parisi,
won a well earned honorable mention.

A first year man as a head coach on
the soccer team, Mr. Nevius, couldn't have
had a better year to start with than by
losing over half his starting team due to
injuries. Mr. Nevius replaced retiring
coach Mr. Huber who by the way retired
with a championship team, and found it
very hard to try to follow up with another
championship team with the bad breaks
no other coach in the A.A.A. has ever
had.

It's almost certain this is one year coach
Nevius will never forget. But still our new
coach put in a lot of time and effort to still
come up with a good season.
