| MOVE-UP One of Balboa's most memorable traditions, occurring twice a year before graduation, is that which is called Move-Up,a tradition started in 1929. Here is an account of the action which occurred at the Spring Class of 67's Move-Up. The Graduating Seniors were seated on stage in the usual "Cap and Gown" attire. Our principal Mr. Kauer said he'd like to welcome in the new class of Spring '67. The high'n'mighties, with guys holler- ing, and girls screaming, came running down the aisle like a herd of buffalos. The seniors filed into their new seats, singing the traditional Senior Song. In the midst of the assembly, a trumpet was sounded, and a special committee presented the outgoing class with a 70 foot garland. Following the presentation of the garland, the Galleon, symbol of leadership, was raised into the air by the High'n'Mighties new president. Bill Magidson. Within the next few minutes. Bill Magidson and Linda Federighi presented several leis to outgo- ing S.A. officers. Next, the overwhelming spirit of the new high'n'mighties was shown, when they sang several songs. Near the end of the assembly, several scholarships were granted in addition to several trophies. The assembly finally came to an end with the high'n'mighties singing the traditional senior song once again. (MORE on Next Page) |
