| A TRADITION WORTH CONTINUING We have already expressed thanks to a large number of persons who have contributed to the completion of the part of this GALLEON reserved for the 1977-78 school year. Many of those same persons gave lavishly of their time and talents in aspects which have more to do with this portion set aside for the history of Balboa High School, its graduates, former faculty, administration ,and friends .The past and the present here have a way of over-lapping not only in second and possibly third generations of Bal family traditions, but also in graduates who have returned here to teach or to work on our classified staff. Apparently Buccaneers past and present feel that they learn certain ways of treating others here which are effective throughout life and worth passing on like family heirlooms to their children and grandchildren. The world has changed radically since this school was founded, but human kindness and genuine empathy have preserved this school where others have perished or lost their way. Almost without exception. Buccaneers remain proud of and loyal to their Alma Mater. We may deplore some temporary lapses from our ideals of the past, but we try with remarkable success to show each entering student the virtues of truth, honesty, gratitude, and self-respect. Hypocrisy gets short shrift here because the good so far outnumber the bad. the apathetic, and the boastful. LOOK US OVER — WE CAN TAKE IT!
