Balboa High School has strong roots. Loyalty, courage, intelligence, integrity, and compassion are the searching, clinging, root-fingers which find the nourishment and provide the stability for those who comprise the school. Over the years, those powerful roots have sent out branches matched to the conditions of the world. The branches send back the life force to those roots. In times of struggle the offshoots have been strong and adaptable. In times of peace and plenty they have flourished in more gentle ways. Buccaneers seek challenges, knowing that their roots have provided them with strength to face the world and to make their contribution to it. Those contributions sustain the pride which is passed on to new generations. To be a part of this living whole honors each person within our school. I hope that consciousness of this firm base will strengthen our graduates, our alumni and faculty, and the new students who will become Balboans in the years ahead. —Florence Rawson COHEN 1979 Principal |
