| Marineland has been a popular tourist destination since its opening in June, 1938, as Marine Studios attracting families and tourists as well as luminaries like Ernest Hemingway and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, who were said to frequent the park's Moby Dick bar. It continues to draw visitors and praise today for its unique blend of information and entertainment-- it joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and was named one of America's Top 10 Roadside Attractions in 2001. It was also chosen as Florida's first Remarkable Coastal Place by the Florida Department of Community Affairs. |
