Adolf. Kingliest of kings in the most ceremonious
court of Europe, the king, off duty, is treated with
the simple courtesy due a private citizen.

The Storkyrkan (Cathedral), behind the palace,
built in 1264, is the heart of Stockholm. Most main
streets radiate from it. Inside is a 1489 oak statue of
St. George slaying the dragon.

3. Called the "Venice of the North" because of
her waterways, Stockholm, along Kungsgatan (King
Street), looks more like Chicago. Broad clean streets
and modern, clean-lined buildings make Stockholm
one of the gravely beautiful cities of the world.

"Meeths" on the left is a large department store.
The tower is one of the city's few skyscrapers.

4. Through the graceful arch of Arsta Bridge
spanning an arm of Lake Malaren, we view Soder
Hospital, Stockholm's newest and most beautiful
general hospital. The small fishing craft is undoubt-
edly netting crayfish for the city's smorgasbords.

5. A steamer takes us to an island in Lake
Malaren to see Drottningholm Palace. Resembling
Versailles, although on a smaller and more liveable etc
