| FROM:Back of Packet Bazooka Joe and his little pal, Herman, like most of the kids in Prairie City, headed for the Big Top when they heard the Dingling Brothers Circus was in town. While visiting the circus sideshow, they saw the Fat Lady, the Strong Man, the trained seal who played "My Country 'tis of Thee" on the trumpet, and "the world's One and Only Singing Dog!" It was perhaps because of them that Joe and Herman, decided then and there to join the circus, Mr. Dingling, a kindly old man who had been young himself once, hired them right away. "You wash the elephants, Herman, he said. "And you'll sell tickets, Joel" Later that same night, Joe and Herman discovered that Fido, the Singing Dog, had completely disappeared!—the first in a series of mysterious events that threatened to close the circus.
