View-Master Reel R-3 THE WISE MEN FIND JESUS Matt. 2:1-12 SCENE ONE When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, there came Magi, or Wise Men, from the East. They went about Jerusalem saying, "Where is the newly born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the East and have come to worship him." SCENE Two When Herod the Great heard of the inquiries of the Wise Men, he was greatly troubled. The people of Jerusalem were also full of unrest, for Herod was a cruel and unpopular ruler. SCENE THREE Fearing for his throne, Herod called the Chief Priests and Scribes together and asked them where Christ should be born. "In Bethlehem of Judea," they told him, "for thus it is written by the prophet: 'And thou, Bethlehem, in the land Juda art not least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a leader who shall lead my people Israel.' " SCENE Four Then Herod summoned the Wise Men and asked them when they had first seen the star. He told them that the child was to be found in Bethlehem, craftily add- ing, "Go, and search diligently for the young child, and when you have found him bring me word, that I may come and worship him, too." SCENE FIVE The Wise Men left the king and started on their way to Bethlehem. And, behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them. They followed rejoicing. SCENE Six At last, in Bethlehem, the star shone over a certain house. The Wise Men, full of hope and fear at the end of their long journey, were overjoyed to find the young child with Mary, his mother. They fell down and worshipped him. SCENE SEVEN They presented him with gifts of gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
