CH40 Jesus Answers the Prayer of a Mother

REEL CH-40 Matt. 16:21-28; Mark 7:24-30

Scene One             There was a Gentile woman of Syro-Phoenicia whose daughter was very ill. Nobody could cure her for she was afflicted by an unclean spirit. When the mother heard that Jesus had left Galilee and had come to the district of Tyre and Sidon, she decided to ask Him for help.

Scene Two           Now Jesus had shut himself into a house wishing- to see no one, but the mother waited until he came out. "Have mercy on me, 0 Lord, thou son of David," she cried. "My daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."

Scene Three              Jesus answered her not, and His disciples begged Him to send her away for she was crying out and making a disturbance. Jesus addressed her, "I am not sent l>ut unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

Scene Four               By this speech, Jesus pointed out the fact that she was a Gentile and that He had come to save first the Jews. But the Canaanite woman fell at His feet worshipping Him, crying, "Lord, help me." He replied, "It is not proper to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs." But the woman answered, "Truth, Lord, yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' tables."

Scene Five         Then Jesus answered, "0 woman, great is thy faith. Because of this answer, go thy way; the devil has gone out of thy daughter."

Scene Six       The mother rushed home and found that it was even as Jesus had promised. Her daughter was healed.

Scene Seven            Psalm 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shall glorify me. : The End.
