| Sample OCR of Booklet FAR VIEW HOUSE
The first unit of this pueblo to be excavated was named Far
View House. It is well-named. The mountains of Colorado,
New Mexico, and Arizona are visible from this house. The
ruin, itself, is one of many built atop the mesa when these
early men felt safe enough to live in houses not in caves. It was
here they built an irrigation system for an immense village
known now as the Mummy Lake Group, though there is neither lake nor
mummy here.
Our Guided Picture Tour ends with the unanswered question: "Where?" It
can only be said that the Old Ones, like
Arizona's Hohokam people (those who have gone), have just
gone away and that they left no forwarding address. |
