$20 Dutch Wonderland is a
48-acre amusement park just east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania appealing
primarily to families with small children. The park's theme is a "Kingdom
for Kids." The entrance to the park has a real stone castle façade, which
was built by Earl Clark, a potato farmer, before he opened the park in 1963.
The Clark family sold Dutch Wonderland in 2001 to Hershey Entertainment and
Resorts Company, which also operates Hersheypark in nearby Hershey,
Pennsylvania. They also operate WONDERLAND Mini-Golf, and OLD MILL STREAM
Campground at the same location. The current General Manager of Dutch
Wonderland is Rick Stammel.
Today, the park has 32 rides, plus a tropical-themed interactive water play
area called Duke's Lagoon. The park also has an extended season, open for
"Happy Hauntings" and "Dutch Winter Wonderland" events for Halloween and
Christmas.
The park is part of a larger area in Lancaster zoned for entertainment,
dining, lodging, and conferences.

The Lincoln Heritage Trail is a designation for a series of
highways in the U.S. states of Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky that links
communities with pre-presidential period historical ties to U.S. president
Abraham Lincoln.
Fifty years after Lincoln's death (1915), the Illinois General Assembly
authorized the Illinois State Historical Library to mark the exact route
traveled by Lincoln from Kentucky through Indiana to Illinois. Almost
another 50 years passed before the 1,000-mile trail was opened in 1963.
Author Andrew Ferguson cites Robert Newman, Illinois' director of tourism
in the 1960s, as saying "the whole thing was cooked up by the marketing guys
at the American Petroleum Institute. ... They wanted to get people
traveling. Get 'em into their cars, get 'em buying gasoline."[1] The Trail
originally had 3,000 markers showing Lincoln's route to Illinois.
